Weekly Writing Hour
Tutor: Susanna Jones
Starting in March. Date/time tbc
Getting started and finding time to keep going can be the hardest part but it doesn't have to be.
The approach in these one-hour sessions is to let the writing come easily, to get fresh words on the page and to develop your material and writing skills week by week. We'll use a variety of techniques, simple prompts and discussion. By the end of the session you'll have new material to continue working on during the week.
If you already have an idea of what you want to write about or have started work on something, you can use the sessions to open up and develop this material, adding new layers and finding new directions. If you have an abandoned, half-written draft of something you don't know what to do with, you could use these sessions to breathe fresh life into it and getting it moving again.
We will sometimes break into pairs or small groups for discussion. There will be opportunities to share your work but there will be no pressure to read your work aloud. The point of the sessions is to be able to write freely, without nerves or self-consciousness. For detailed editorial feedback, you can book a meeting with Susanna (see below).
Payment is by BACS transfer. Fees are non-refundable but, with at least 24 hours' notice, you can transfer the payment to the session or put it toward another session.
Numbers are limited to keep the group to a friendly size.
You can book a private session with Susanna at any time.
